Objective
Be the first player to play all your tiles from your pool and rack.
Setup
- Put all 84 tiles (72 color + 12 wind) face down and shuffle.
- Divide tiles evenly: 42 each (2 players), 28 each (3 players), 21 each (4 players).
- Each player draws 5 tiles from their pool onto their rack.
- The youngest player goes first, placing one tile on the center moon square, then drawing one tile from their pool.
Tournament-Style Setup: Shuffle color tiles separately from wind tiles and divide into even player pools. Then equally distribute wind tiles to each player to shuffle into their personal pool. More skill, less luck!
Taking Your Turn
The first move of your turn is always free. Choose from:
Regular Move (Play a Color Tile)
- Place a tile adjacent (not diagonal) to an existing tile on the board.
- Every adjacent side must match by color or shape (or both).
- A tile may connect on 1, 2, 3, or all 4 sides.
Exchange
- Remove some or all tiles from your rack.
- Draw an equal number of new tiles from your pool (no peeking).
- Shuffle exchanged tiles back into your pool.
Pass
You may pass your turn for free. If you can't play or exchange, you must pass.
Tip: It's usually better to exchange tiles rather than pass.
Stones & Extra Moves
After your free first move, spend stones for additional moves:
| Cost | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 Sunstone | +1 Extra Move |
| 2 Halfstones | +1 Extra Move |
Earning Stones
| Play | Condition | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Double | Match on 2 sides | +1 Halfstone |
| Trefoil | Match on 3 sides | +1 Sunstone |
| Latice | Match on all 4 sides | +2 Sunstones |

Double

Trefoil

Latice
- You may buy multiple moves per turn.
- Continue until you run out of stones or tiles in your rack.
- Stones earned can be spent immediately or saved.
- No swapping sunstones for halfstones.
- Sunstone limit: max 3 sunstones at end of turn. Extras must be discarded. Halfstones are unlimited.
Wind Tiles
- Shift any tile on the board up, down, left, or right to an open adjacent square.
- The shifted tile does not need to match adjacent tiles in its new position.
- A shifted tile may be detached from other tiles.
- After shifting, discard the wind tile to the shared discard pile.
- You get a free extra move after playing a wind tile (no stones required).
- You do not earn stones from shifting a tile, even if it lands next to matching tiles or on a sun square.
Wind Buy-Back
- If you have fewer than 5 tiles on your rack, buy a wind tile from the discard pile.
- This does not count as a move.
- Cost: 3 Sunstones (2–3 players) or 2 Sunstones (4 players). Sunstones only.
Sun Squares
- Playing a tile on a sun square earns +1 bonus Sunstone (in addition to other stones).
- Shifting a tile onto a sun square with a wind tile does not count.
Tip: Use a wind tile to uncover a Sun Square, then play a color tile on it!
End of Game
End of Turn
- Your turn ends when you can't play, have played all 5 rack tiles, or choose to stop.
- Draw tiles from your pool to refill your rack to 5.
- If your pool doesn't have enough, draw all remaining tiles.
Winning
- First player with no tiles remaining in pool or rack wins.
- If all players must pass: fewest remaining tiles wins.
- Equal remaining tiles = tie.
